School History

Baihe Elementary School was originally established on October 20, 1901, under the name Dianzai-Kou School. Over the years, it underwent several name changes to reflect administrative and educational reforms. On March 31, 1921, it was renamed Zi-He Public School; on April 1, 1941, it became Baihe National School.

Following Taiwan's restoration in 1945, the school was renamed Baihe Township First National School on January 1, 1946, and later reverted to Baihe National School on February 1, 1947. With the implementation of nine-year compulsory education in 1968, the school adopted its current name: Baihe Elementary School, Baihe Township, Tainan County.

Located in the heart of Baihe Township, the school campus covers 2.2659 hectares. Surrounded by city streets, the campus offers convenient access and a serene environment filled with lush greenery, making it an ideal place for learning. It is regarded as the central elementary school of the township.

With over a century of history, the school has grown and evolved through the leadership of dedicated principals and their teams. Significant improvements in facilities and the learning environment have been made throughout the years. A major event in the school’s history occurred on January 18, 1964, when the Baihe earthquake destroyed all school buildings. Thanks to U.S. foreign aid, four two-story classroom buildings (East, South, West, and North wings) were rebuilt and still serve as the school’s main teaching area today.

In 1981, with additional government support and community donations, a multifunctional student activity center was constructed, offering students a dynamic space for learning and growth. Continual upgrades to subject-specific classrooms and educational facilities reflect the school’s commitment to improving teaching quality and learning conditions.

Baihe Elementary School is proud of its strong traditions and outstanding reputation. Our alumni have carried forward the values taught here—working hard, striving for excellence, and contributing to society. Many have gone on to achieve remarkable success and become important contributors to the nation.

Today, the entire school community continues to pursue educational excellence with energy and dedication. Guided by a shared vision, we are committed to cultivating well-rounded, healthy, and capable students equipped for the future. With a focus on holistic education and lifelong learning, we aim to shape responsible citizens and foster a brighter tomorrow for every child.
